Sam Adams, the Man, the Beer

A Priest, an Imam and a Rabbi were sitting in a bar… if the bar was in Boston they would order a local beer. More than a beer, they would order a staple: Samuel Adams Boston Lager, or, as the Bostonians call it, “a Sam.”
Samuel Adams was a leader of the American Revolution and a Boston brewer (although not a very good one - he ruined his father brewery business!). He was a true American patriot, and one of the main forces behind the Boston Tea Party. He was also a cousin of John Adams, second president of the United States. But enough about history - let’s visit the man’s namesake: the Sam Adams Brewery in Boston!
Getting to the brewery is quite simple: take the orange line to Stony Brook and walk less than 10 minutes, following the signs. There is a suggested donation of $2 for the tour, and proceeds go to local charities. The tour itself takes 1 hour and includes some history of the company, the brewing process and, most importantly, sampling the beers (including some of the seasonal selections like “Sam Summer” and “Octoberfest”).
So now that you know so much about Sam Adams the Man and the Beer, let us share a secret with you: rumor has it that the picture on the beer label isn’t Sam Adams! We hear that it’s really Paul Revere!
